1. Theresa, thank you for taking the time to speak to us, could you tell us a little bit about yourself, and how did the name Maegan’s Make-Up come about?
Hello Raw Artist! Thank-you for having me, it’s great to have a chat with you guys! A little about myself, I was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Canada living in the province until I moved a few years ago to London UK. I have a small dog named Jacque who I love to bits! He came all the way from Canada as well, Jacque and I are both loving the London life! Okay, the story behind the name ‘Maegan’s Make-up’ came about when I was deciding what to call my business. My actual first name is Theresa but growing up my close friends and family have always referred to me by my middle name ‘Maegan’. I had thought about a few other titles but I received some good advice to keep the name minimal and personal. I was thinking about my logo as well to go with the name and my graphic designer came up with a sweet one with two gorgeous gold M’s intertwined. It was then that I truly felt 100% confi- dent my decision to name my business ‘Maegan’s Make-up’ .
2. You were featured in RAW:London’s Showcase ENCOMPASS in November 2013, can you tell us a little bit about how you were featured and what you do?
This was an amazing experience, so much fun, proper networking, and the feeling of confi- dence that came from doing this event was unforgettable. I remember having the support of my fiancee, friends and family preparing for the event and also from those who attended the event. I was the make-up artist for the catwalk show featuring Huma Hayirli’s ‘Drag Me Out’ collection with amazing colourful prints and textiles designs. I decided the look for these models should include colourful lashes with different textures and vibrant colours on the lips and eyes. I was really inspired by Shu Uemura who are well-known for their custom lashes and of course Huma’s fabulous collection.
3. How has your career developed since since last year?
My career has been amazing over the last year. I have been working with The Chrissy B Show on SKY203 with my own make-up segment which airs on Mondays at 10:00pm. My sister Cynthia Gregoire, a.k.a The Mod Journalist, is a stylist who lives in London and is also featured on the show with styling and fashion tips. Our slot feature us as “The Gre- goire Sisters” a fashion and beauty duo who along with celebrity news and other guests always manage to have an absolute blast with the host Christoulla Boodram each show!
I have continued to be successful doing freelance work at weddings, proms, short films, fashion shoots including my favourite which is being on the creative team for catwalk shows.
I have a weekly blog which is featured on The Chrissy B Show website and also on my per- sonal website www.maegansmakeup.com. All my make-up segments for the show can be viewed on my site as well as on youtube so be sure to check them out!
I also have become a certified professional Hair Stylist through The London Hair Academy so have been getting more work doing both hair and make-up which is great.
4. How did your involvement with the Chrissy B Show come about?
I started being a make-up artist for the show through an opportunity given to me by the London School of Beauty and Make-up Event’s Team. This team is given different opportunities to gain experience and build your portfolio after you graduate and are a hand-picked elite team which I am so grateful to have been chosen to be a part of. I love doing television make-up and it was so amazing when this came up I was so exited. I thoroughly enjoy work- ing with the host Christoulla Boodram, she is so sweet and beautiful so it was something to look forward to each week. I never in a million years would have guessed that I would be featured on the show with a weekly make-up segment, it’s so crazy!
5. You also work on the London School of Beauty and Make-up’s Event Team, how do you does this compare to your profession as a Make-Up artist and what do you like about it?
Events that are through the London School of Beauty and Make-up are super exciting, who would not be happy receiving an email or text inviting you to a high profile fashion events or work opportunity with an amazing brand or designer. I think that there is no comparing to my work with the team and as a Make-Up artist as it is a part of my career and experience. So essentially it is the same, however on some of my first events with the team to assist very experienced artists it would have been harder to come by without the help of the team.
6. What is next in store for Maegan’s Make-Up?
I anticipate that there will tons of excitement in the future of Maegan’s Make-Up and lots of crazy fashion adventures and success with “The Gregoire Sisters”. We are having such an amazing time and appreciate the love, support and success from everyone! Don’t forget to tune in to watch Maegan’s Make-up segment on SKY203 10pm Mondays and read my week- ly blog at www.maegansmakeup.com or at www.chrissybshow.tv
